Virtual Reality also offers opportunities for the display of other types of data. Other forms of information visualisation technology is also important. Research suggests that an average of up to 70% of the time in a given meeting may be taken up with gathering information and data to try to determine what decisions need to be made, rather than with making the needed decisions or even gathering the information needed to make them. New methods of information display can help to highlight significant details and make the decision making process more efficient.
The appropriate display of information can speed decisions and improve the understanding of construction processes. Virtual Reality systems can be used for tracking progress on construction projects, displaying layout areas for supplies, planning projects and understanding how decisions will affect the ultimate result of the construction. Combining information visualisation technologies with other types of decision support software (such as an innovative Project reporting System, Web casting, etc.) will produce a clearer understanding of the options provided by that software and the implications of the decisions that will be made. Information visualization systems have the potential to make decisions easier and quicker.
Virtual Reality is the graphical user interface of choice for the industry.
Rooted in the fields of engineering and digital media, we have the unique ability to present and aid in the visualization of complex information in a comprehensive manner.
We provide a means of communicating information, ideas and concerns effectively through the use of innovative and immersive digital technologies.
Bring your designs to life by allowing us to create custom walkthroughs and animations to better visualize architectural designs and concepts. Using state of the art computer technology we can help you to better communicate your ideas by creating virtual walkthroughs and animations well before the ground has even been broken.
From the preliminary conceptual idea stage right through until the project is complete, Peeta Consultants Inc. can document the entire construction and design process from beginning to end, providing you with a complete history of the project. Our Services not only empower your clients but will also give them the opportunity to make prompt, well-informed decisions with confidence.

Urban Designers and Landscape Architects wanted to add life, modern technology and drama to their presentation on the proposed construction of two new government buildings in Charlottetown, PEI. The solution was an information-packed visual presentation, which included 3D renderings, animations, fly-throughs and panoramic walkthroughs of downtown Charlottetown.
We developed a CD-ROM that provided the urban designers with the ability to focus their clients' attention on the most appropriate options for construction. In addition, Peeta wanted to ensure that the presentation illustrated and accentuated the ideas of all parties involved to guarantee that no unexpected surprises would arise once the project gets underway.
When the Canadian Museum of Civilization (CMC) wanted to display the architecture of India in a museum environment, we proposed the idea of creating an interactive CD-ROM of the Taj Mahal, which would allow the user to take a virtual visit of the Taj Mahal. Peeta Consultants Inc. produced a CD-ROM that included both English and French, complete with animation, photographic virtual tours, never before seen views of the Taj Mahal, historical text, all accompanied with authentic Indian music. The "Taj Mahal: Vision of Paradise", provides the user with a unique interpretation of one of the great wonders of the world. The CD-ROM is running at an interactive kiosk throughout the duration of an exhibit on India at the CMC in Hull, Quebec. The CD-ROM is also being sold in the museum boutique to help tourists preserve and promote their Indian experience while at the CMC.
In June 1999, the Parliamentary Precinct Directorate asked us how we would be able to fully capture and maintain a log of the construction process for the tunnel linking the East and Centre Blocks on Parliament Hill. Our solution was to shoot and create 32 fully immersive photo-realistic virtual walkthroughs of the construction at different time intervals and create links to existing text-based project information. The final result was a user-friendly CD-ROM used for archival purposes, which details the complete development and construction of the tunnel.
3D, Immersive, Interactive Web Application for Smart Communities
1. 3D models of the existing urban environment are created, attached to other datasets (i.e Quicktime VR, images, movies, text, etc) attributed to the various objects/buildings in the environment and converted to a format suitable for the internet/intranet environment.
2. An interactive GUI (Graphical User Interface) interface is designed to suit the needs of the target users. The look and feel of the application interface may be created to reflect the user's needs.
After creating the GUI interface interactivity, navigation, and immersiveness are added to the 3D environment. The GUI is the main tool, which allows the user to interact while navigating through the 3D environment of the urban landscape. The user can walk through the 3D environment and view every detail of their environment by simply using the keyboard and/or mouse.
Data sets and media can be attached to objects/buildings inside the 3D environment(s). Text data i.e. building properties, building statistics etc., can be attached to objects, so while navigating, users can access the data behind these objects. Media such as movies, Quicktime VR and images can be attached to objects/buildings for quick access and viewing while navigating inside the 3D environment.
The data sets and media, which are attached to objects/buildings can be manipulated and changed at any time. Searches can be done for objects/buildings inside the 3D environment. The user simply types in or selects his/her search criteria and the 3D environment will change to reflect the users search criteria i.e the users camera will be moved to the object/building and the object/building will become highlighted inside the 3D environment. The data sets may be real-time data.
Our proprietary design engine allows the user to import 3D models and attach data sets and media to the models imported. The design engine will allow predefined what-if scenarios to be created and set up using the design engine which can then be viewed (see different views at right) and simulated in the VR (Navigation) GUI interface by the users within the intranet or securely logged on users through the internet. Access with different levels of security allow different sets of users to interact with the 3D environment with different authority (e.g. walkthrough only; model editing; data editing etc.)
All the data and what-if scenarios are archived and stored in a database for future references and viewing. All the archived data can be accessed at any time by authorized users.
Besides carrying out what-if scenarios this environment may also be physically static but have data-sets that are real-time.
Project Management
A Project Management Tool that allows senior project managers to gain a clear perspective on each of their construction projects with ease.
This web-based tool was developed to allow project managers to create, update and report on multi-million dollar projects while maintaining a central database that allows current and past projects alike to be accessed through a user-friendly interface. This interface is viewed on a single screen, which allows the project managers to update, edit and print project information in a concise and comprehensive format. Project managers are thus able to dynamically control their project budgets and schedules in real time.
Here is what you get:
- A Customizable Graphical User Interface that is focused towards the type of projects an organization is involved with.
- User Rights Management: different users have access to features according to their roles.
- Project name, project number and project month ending.
- Executive Summary, which includes a narrative and approvals.
- Scheduling milestones with original, revised, and current dates.
- Cash flow forecasting for the entire fiscal year.
- Contract Summary keeps track of contracts awarded to consultants and contractors hired for the project.
- Project Team Management provides the team members contact information.
- Built in Email Client and messaging system where the user can attach, link and send reports and/or messages via email to a project team member(s) or to external parties.
- Reports can be saved on the server then downloaded onto a disk.
- Reports can be assigned to different project managers through the course of the project.
- Senior Project Managers and their assistants have full access rights: they can create/delete/modify new or existing users, create projects and assign them to project managers. Edit all the projects at any month, they have access to reports of the current month as well as the project archives which enables the Senior Project Managers and their assistants to view/update/edit all projects which are displayed according to the project managers assignments. They are also able to mark reports urgent and reviewed, notify (email), print, view, save reports to disk, and move project reports to the following months.
- Project Mangers view is limited: He/she could view/edit/update projects that are assigned to them by the Senior . . Project Manager or by an Admin assistant. They can edit/update reports that are of the current month, they are able to print, notify (email), view, mark reports urgent and reviewed, save to disk, and move project reports to the following month.

Virtual Reality offers a way to display information that corresponds directly to what the viewer would see if she or he examined a building or construction site.
This makes it much easier to understand the information being interpreted, including such information as spatial locations, extent of problems and the relationships between different objects.
