By using the Windows screen saver function, ePoster lets you communicate with your staff without interfering with their normal work:
- enables multiple exposures of messages without overloading in-trays or system resources
- saves money in staff communications
- is timely: quick and easy to make new posters or link directly to intranet pages
- is environmentally friendly
Your "posters" can be web pages from your intranet or the internet; rss feeds; flash files; PowerPoint presentations; pictures and movies. There is no need to learn a new program to create your posters - just use your current software. You will probably find that
you can use many of the resources which you already have on your intranet.
Using the scheduling and priority features you can have a mix of short and long term posters conveying messages from all parts of your company. In a single day your staff could see ePosters covering:
- staff training and development
- project or research summaries
- press releases from your website
- safety guidelines and procedures
- "Hot Topics" and "Latest News"
- reminders of coming events.
The possibilities are endless!
Of course, you don't want to drown staff in information that is not relevant to them,
so ePoster lets you target your communications with display channels.
- You set up channels for different "groups" across your organisation
- You allocate each poster to the relevant channel
- Your staff select which channels they want to see
Knowledge Management
Knowledge management is about getting the right information to the right people in a way that they can use it. If people will actively look for the information, it's relatively easy. But how do you get information to people if they don't know
they need it, and don't go looking for it?
One way is to set up a subscription service. Somebody finds and categorises information, such as news and magazine articles, and then distributes this in paper or by email to people who have subscribed to the particular category.
It sounds good, but people who subscribe can end up with overflowing in-trays or in-boxes, and little time to go through then enthusiasm quickly peters out.
Our ePoster product refines this approach, bringing the information to subscribers in a less intrusive but more effective way.
The model is the same - a central person creates ePosters and assigns them to different channels, and each user chooses the channels they wish to subscribe to. The difference is that the information is then displayed on their
computer screen when they are not doing other things. Each time they take a phone call, go to a meeting, make a cup of coffee or chat with a colleague, they see relevant ePosters when they come back to their PC.
And the result? Users potentially see the same ePosters many times, increasing the likelihood that they will remember and use the information. If the information is not useful they don't need to do anything to get rid of it, and have wasted no time. And if it is useful, they can bring it back and follow any links easily through the ePoster Browser mode.
Can you get your staff the information they need during an emergency?
Imagine there's an emergency in your building. You may need to evacuate. So you use the loudspeaker system to put your staff on standby. And with your current systems, that's probably it. They wait at their desks, wondering what's going on, and trying to remember what they're supposed to do. Wondering what they did with the leaflet that you sent out six months ago, after their miserable performance on an evacuation drill.
And that's the problem. Now they really need the information, they probably can't find it. Wouldn't it be great if you could send it to them now? Instantly. Easily. Taking no time away from the staff dealing with the emergency.
Now you can. With AlertPoster, you can send an instant message to all users on your network, linked directly to a web page or any other file on your network, so that it automatically opens when your staff have read the emergency message. So you can give your staff specific information on what is happening now, and detailed information on procedures. And with no effort on their part, your staff can read the evacuation procedures while they're waiting...
You can even set up groups within AlertPoster, so that if an emergency only affects one location, your message only goes out to the affected staff.
